I put minimal time into week 1 prep as Covid KNOCKED me out. I did well in cash games but stunk up the joint in GPPs. I didn’t enter many contests due to illness and lack of prep. Here’s the bad news first:
- The two tight ends I played the most this week, Ertz and Engram, flopped.
- I was high on Christian Kirk – he flopped.
- I’m high on Will Levis and his cannon arm, but week 1 was bad. My Levis/Ridley stacks failed.
- Javonte Williams flopped.
- I had decent exposure to Joshua Palmer, and he too flopped.
Now for the good:
- I played Joe Mixon in almost every lineup and he hit. I’m still not sure how he was only 5% owned in most formats.
- I played a Mayfield/Evans stack in cash games, and they hit.
- I was hoping for 10-12 points from JK Dobbins, and he ended up with 25.90
- I played the Steelers D in cash games, they had a respectable 12 Draftkings points
Cash games keep the lights on
It is true – cash games “keep the lights on” in DFS. I broke even yesterday thanks to cash games, and my cash game squad barely broke 130 points. 130 is nothing in GPPs, but in cash games, it usually places, unless it’s one of those weeks where multiple players break the slate.
At any rate, I’m going to ramp things up for week 2, and hope to post useful content.
In the meantime, if you need a primer, here is my guide on building NFL DFS player pools:
