MLB DFS: 3-29 Recap and Initial Thoughts for 3-30

Here’s a recap of my Draftkings value targets from yesterday:

  • AJ Puk was unexpectedly WILD yesterday. I was not expecting 6 walks over two innings with only one K. That -6.90 point total for DK was awful.
  • While I cautioned that Zack Thompson was a very risky play, I was hoping he’d be able to score at least 10 DK points. The earned runs/homers hurt him, and he only ended up with 5.20 points.
  • Logan Allen had 11.65 points, and what is most disappointing is that he needed the 4 point win bonus to get there. He only lasted 5 innings, and and 3 ER hurt him.

There are two “main slates” today, an early one, and an evening one.

Possible SP targets for the early slate

  • Grayson Rodriguez dominated down the stretch last season, with a 2.58 ERA over his last 13 starts. The elements of an ace are there, and at $7900 on DK, I’m buying.
  • Jared Jones is the Pirates’ 3rd ranked prospect, and he’ll make his debut against the Marlins today. The strikeout upside makes him worthy of rostering in GPPs. The range of outcomes is always wide for MLB debuts, so keep that in mind.
  • At $4600, it won’t take DL much to give you a strong ROI. I targeted Hall in roto NL only leagues, as he exhibited improved control out of the pen last season. There’s too much K upside to pass him up at this price.
  • I’ll release a video with more details shortly.

Possible targets for the late slate

The value options are rough for the evening slate, but Crawford and Henry appear to be the best plays for under $8k.
